I saw some of the folks are getting real interested in putting longer miles, touring and ever longer distances....And I think the next phase would be the 1K ride Smile And part of the equipment upgrade will be bags/panniers.
For panniers and bags.. imho, the gold standard are the Ortliebs. I don't have one but I rode along one of my friends in the pouring rain andhis items were perfectly dry. He doesn't baby the bags and use them alot. They hold up well and if I were to do touring...this is what I will get... and I found this shop in the US that is on sale.. not sure it is the best price.

For the day ride type of guy-- like me... the handlerbar bag is pretty good. I saw it at Fall factor (opp. queensway) and it is pricey, but very very well made. u can even buy the camera inserts specially for DSLRs and cameras...

I saw this site having a promo.. and BTW I am not paid by them.. do go check if suitable and good price...

I have ordered one Ortlieb waist pouch. Same go through online, can't find local suppliers. There's lots of good reviews about Ortlieb.
I am also looking for panniers and rack system for my Dahon MU ex or Jetstream but afraid they won't accept the normal rack system. Not suitable for touring, seat post diameter also too big for Topeak system. Sad Dahon has TR model but I find that too heavy. Where do you intend to go for 1k ride ? Share your secret training method and place hor... bounce
