3.1.2011 [Monday day-off-in-lieu ride] Kampong Buangkok and Matilda house

Heads up! We are heading to the ulu side of Singapore. The Kampong!

Here's the plan:
- Meet at Punggol MRT @ 7.30am
- Afterwhich, we will head towards Sengkang Riverside PCN to Gerald Drive which the Kampong Buangkok is located.
- Followed by a short ride to Jalan Kayu Prata Shops for breakfast.
- After eating, we will ride to Seletar Airbase and return to the starting point (Punggol MRT) from there

The Kampong Buangkok -
"Built in 1956, it was the last surviving kampong (village) located at Kampong Lorong Buangkok in Hougang, in the north eastern region of Singapore in the 21st century. A wide canal ran alongside the kampong, which links to Sungei Punggol that drains into the eastern Straits of Johor."

The Matilda House -
Matilda House is one of the oldest houses in Singapore. Located in Punggol, it is very close to the Soo Teck LRT Station. The house was originally built in 1902 for Mr Joseph Cashin, whose family history in Singapore can be traced back to the early 1840s. It has entrances on two sides of the main building, an open balcony at the front facade, and a long verandah. The house is now uninhabited and is currently in ruins.

Not all companies give off-in-lieu leh. I don't even know yet if my company is giving off-in-lieu or crediting extra leave to us... Sad

sorry guys.. I need to be at LTG for teardown on Sunday. Either u guys go ahead or I will still ride on Monday. Darren, I think u know the place rite? Maybe u want to take some folks down on Sunday?

Just my 2 cent worth point of view, since not everyone can join for the monday ride. Most of us is going for the 9 jan ride and the bike rally, ppl who can cycle on both sun and monday take it as a training and for ppl who cannot make it still get to enjoy this trip.
