Ride slow and be safe Empty
PostSubject: Ride slow and be safe   Ride slow and be safe I_icon_minitimeMon Jul 18, 2011 7:15 am

Yesterday, my family was cycling at Coastal Road and suddenly, a snake came out of nowhere and stopped at the center of the PCN pavement. While trying to avoid the snake, both my elder son (Marcus) and my wife (Sandy) fell. Seeing their injuries, it made me feel bad and sorry. Are we going too fast? Or is it because of the snake? This is the first time both of them fell, and quite bad especially for my wife. They did not crash, but my younger son (kenneth) almost run over his brother buttock (they were still joking abt this when on the way home!)

For Marcus, he had cuts on his right knee, thigh, elbow and shoulder. Not that bad for him as he is still as active as ever. As for my wife, it left 2 bad cuts and bruises on my wife's left and right knee, a swollen right eye (as if someone just punched her) and a small cut on her wrist. She now walks limping.

Now, it left both of them with a bad experience of snake and for Kenneth, who was shocked as he almost running over his brother. Kenneth says he will not do coastal road, at least for the time being. For Marcus, they blamed it on the snake. And my wife, the speed we are going.

Whatever is it - ride slow and be safe. If slow, probably the fall will not be that bad, i guess.

Wish you & your family well and recover speedily.

No one like an accident. Many of us at some time or other do experience accident too. Continue and get back to riding slowly and all of us learn from our own and other experiences.

We are grateful to you for sharing your experience here and continue to remind each other the priority of safety either cycling individually or as a group, in our enjoyment of a healthy hobby.

Once again, wish you and your family well and recover speedily.

Best wishes & regards / Bil

Do hope your family members recover soon. Just to share that it would be good to bring a small first aid kit for emergencies... If it is any consolation, your family saved a part of nature.

I hope Marcus and Sandy are feeling better now. Get well soon!

It might be scary for them to get back to cycling but do it slowly and confidence will be back. Hope this doesn't put anyone off cycling. Meanwhile, take care and catch you all soon! Smile

Sorry to hear what happened. Hope Marcus & Sandy are recovering well...

What kinda snake is it? If can't stopped safely in time, then guess no choice but to run over it??? Touchwood, so far never encountered such things for the many many times i've cycled on that route. Think i would have freaked out, if i happened to me!
