11th Dec 2011 Geylang Serai CC Cycling official launch ride

Cycling as a mode of transportation is efficient, non-polluting, fitness and health enhancing. It is also a great way to connect community. Therefore we are very happy to support the launch of Passion Cycling Club by Geylang Serai CC to promote cycling in the neighborhood.

All are welcome to join the fun ride. We need both Pandas and riders!

What's more than a normal Sunday ride?
Poisons! Folding bike fair! good deals by eWlaker, Diginexx and MBS (tbc).
Shake hand with Fatimah Lateef, MP for Marine Parade GRC and GR leaders
Early birds will receive a safe-cycling flag call "Flying color". It is my latest conception (thanks to the reflective sheet donated byGabrial, a fellow LCSG member).
LCSG talks: I will be singing and dancing ... haha no lah!





The route:
We will be starting at the CC (Haig Road), ride a short distance on Dunman Road than into Kallang PCN, all the way to Tangong Rhu and finally to Garden by the Bay. The view from there in the morning is priceless!

Route: Geylang Serai CC (start point) - Duman Road - Kallang PCN - Tangong Rhu - Garden By The Bay - loop back (end point)
Total Distance: 10km
Speed: slow and easy (average 15-18km/hr), families suitable for children or bikes with kid trailers (tbc).

Program update:
7.15am : Arrival/Briefing of Cycling Segment Volunteers (Lovecycling SG Pandas, road marshals)

7.30am : All cyclists meet at Basketball Court, Geylang Serai Community Club, 99 Haig Road, Singapore 438748

7.45am : Arrival of Grassroots Adviser, Associate Professor, Fatimah Lateef, MP for Marine Parade GRC
Adviser will mingle with the cyclists

7.55am : Briefing on route and safety rules ( eg, Ride on the footpath etc )

8.00am: Launch of PAssion Cycling Club at the basketball court before flag off

8.10am : Flag off by A/P Fatimah Lateef
GSCC - Duinman Rd - Daokota PCN - Tanjong Rhu PCN - Gardens by the Bay (Rest/Water point) and return.

9.30am: Cyclists return to CC for Refreshment and Networking

10.00am: Talk and dialogue with LOVECYCLING SG Co-Founder. (launch the "Flying color"(safe-cycling flag) explain how visibility contributes to safety of cyclist.)

10.30am Foldable Bike Fair,
Demonstration and Tryout ( open for residents and member of public )

12.30pm: End of programme

For Riders joining the ride event, please observe the following.
Please inform RO/TS your contact numbers.
Please inform RO/TS if you are withdrawing from the ride or going to be late for the ride.
Please be punctual for the ride event.
Please bring your own emergency kit (Spare tubes, air pump etc)
RO/TS is not responsible for any injuries to riders and bicycles damages occurred before, during and after ride event.
Riders are to ensure their own safety.
