| WE CARE Community Services is the first non-denominational outpatient centre treating addictive diseases in Singapore. WE CARE provides a community based drop-in centre with facilities, programmes and counseling for all addictions including drug, alcohol, gambling, sex, eating disorder, internet and shop-lifting. To know more, click http://www.wecare.org.sg/
On April 7th, we plan to do a joint ride with 'WE CARE' participants and staff to Marina Barrage. We need volunteers to help out in this event.
The objectives for this joint ride are
• To raise awareness on addiction and recovery in Singapore.
• Opportunity for persons in recovery and their families to develop external positive support and relationships, through their participation in the cycling group.
• Promotion of healthy addiction-free lifestyle for persons in recovery and their families.
Through this joint ride, we hope
• to create opportunity for persons in recovery and their families to be introduced to Love Cycling SG and, pursue their interest in cycling.
• LCSG members to gain awareness on addiction and recovery in Singapore.
• to develop possible meaningful volunteering opportunities between LCSG and WE CARE.
Date: 7th April 2012, Saturday
Meeting place:
8.00am Lavender MRT *OR*
8.30am 'WE CARE' centre @ No.11, Kampong Bugis. (for those who drive)
Agenda
8.30am Gather at WE CARE. Briefing for LCSG volunteers on addiction..
8.50am Warm up and preparation
9.00am Set off to Marina Barrage
10.30am Break at Old Airport Rd Hawker Centre
1.00pm Return to the centre
Ride condition: 90% PCN or pavement. Suitable for children.
Route: Kallang Riverside Park > Nicoll Highway > Old Airport Rd Hawker Centre > Indoor Stadium > Tg.Rhu Park Connector > Garden By the Bay > Marina Barrage. Return to Kallang via Geylang Park Connector.
Distance: 18Km.
We anticipate about 10~15 WE CARE participants, family members and staff will turn up. E-Walker has generously agreed to loan 10 bikes to support us. But we are still short of two bikes with childseat/trailer as we have two young kids of age 2 & 5. If you're willing to loan your spare bike for standby, we'd appreciate it if you could indicate your name below. However I'm sorry to say we cannot be held liable if any damage caused to your bike.
