Ok folks,
There is a mass hands-on demonstration(10.25am) which we are invited to particpate and learn. It is free of charge. I need to send our group list to Red cross, so if any one is interested, pls put down ur name. Kindly note, there is no cycling. Details below.

World Red Cross Day is celebrated by national societies around the world to remember the founding of the Red Cross Movement and its enduring efforts towards humanity. In celebration of World Red Cross Day, the Singapore Red Cross will be holding an event at Playground@Bigsplash on 19th May 2012 (Saturday), and we would like to invite all members of the Lovecyclingsg community to be part of this commemorative event.

The event will serve as a platform to increase awareness of the importance of first aid for everyone. In particular we will focus on our First Aider on Wheels program which largely involves Youths, amongst volunteers from other age groups, patrolling around in bicycles around East Coast Park looking out for casualties and providing first aid treatment to the general public during weekends.

Apart from launching the First Aider on Wheels program, another key highlight of the event is a mass first aid hands-on demonstration session for 500 youths and adults. The topics covered during the session are:
• Importance of first aid
• First aid kit – why you need it
• Common accidents and injuries
• Some myths on first aid
• Some case studies

The session is free for all. It will be a good opportunity for the members to learn the basics of first aid, especially since preparedness for emergency is a key concern for regular cycling enthusiasts like yourselves. Participants will also be able to visit a special exhibition featuring the various humanitarian efforts of the Singapore Red Cross, including our international programmes, that will be put up during the event.
