| Hi My name is François, I am from Paris. I will go to Singapore for three days and I would like to cycle around the island for one or two days. My plan is to rent a folding bike and to carry it in the MRT. I would like your opinion about this itinerary : gps.motionx.com/og/index.php?id=0404529c8a6c4c6e94a8004bdac0f4a1 Do you think it would be a good choice? -> points of interests? Nice sceneries? -> I prefer bikeways instead of big roads with a lot of cars -> easy to follow without GPS? (if possible, I will use Openstreetmap maps on my Garmin GPS) Thanks for your help | |

| Hi Francois,
Welcome to Singapore! Few things for you to take note.
1. There is a time frame for folding bikes on the MRT. Foldies are only allowed on Mondays to Fridays, 9.30am - 4.00pm and 8.00pm to the end of passenger service, and all day on weekends and public holidays.
2. You can check on the PCN (Park Connector Network) which goes through some scenic parks. PCN are not really bikeways but bike friendly lanes within parks and some main roads.
3. Points of interests includes: - Punggol Waterway - Woodlands Waterfront - Bishan Park - Marina Bay Sands area (might have to use certain main roads to get there) - Gardens By the Bay (East and South)
4. Your itinerary is not bad but you will need to be on the roads for some areas. Please note that if you are not going to fast, you can try the PCN along Changi Coastal. The roads are a little dangerous with fast trucks. Nicoll Highway have fast cars too so some riders use the pavement although bicycles aren't allowed on it. However, you will still see many riders on pavement throughout your journey in Singapore.
Happy riding and stay safe!

| Hi Boo, Thanks for your very complete answer. I would be very happy to join your Sunday morning rides but I will leave Singapore on Saturday. I hope that I could join next time I am going to reconsider my itinerary because it looks a bit tricky for the first time. I will probably go to the parks by the PCN. One more question : I booked a hostel few days ago, but this hostel does not allow folding bicycles because they have limited space. So i am searching for bicycle renters to send the bike to and from everyday for my rental. The two bicycle renters I found are far from my hostel's area (Mosque Street, Singapore, Singapore 059488) : - Bike Hop - My Bike Shop Singapore Do you know other bicycle renters? Thanks again for your help! | |

Oklah, this issue is fixed now. There is a shop 1km from my hostel.

| Hi all,
I am back in Singapore, not anymore for tourism purpose because now I am staying here since few days.
I plan to visit a friend in JB and I am considering crossing the Woodlands Causeway by bicycle. It looks tricky as nothing seems to be planned for bicycles, only for buses, cars and motorbikes. Do you think it would be safe to cross the Woodlands Causeway by bicycle?
My bicycle is a Bromton foldable bike so I can also carry it in a bus if I take it before 4pm or after 8pm.
Thanks for your help Cheers, François
