LCSG Sunday Ride - 06 Jan 2013 "New Year East meets West"

It's the beginning of 2013, let's try something new: This Sunday ride we'll start from two locations: East end from Payer Laber MRT and West from Lake Side MRT. Both groups ride to the mid point Ghim Moh market for great food. The target is to reach at the mid point ~10:30am for a New Year celebration photo. After makan, for those who can't get enough ride, they can follow the return trip of the "other" group to complete the entire route: East + West total about 36km.

Date: 06th Jan 2013 (Sunday)
Time: 0730 am, End about 12.30pm
Distance: 18km (each side)
Pace: Easy and slowly ( Slow down to smell the roses )

East side - Payer Laber MRT Paya Laber to Ghim Mok (18km)
West side - Lake Side MRT Lake Side to Ghim Mok (18km)

Ride rating: Medium. 70% PCN, 30% on road and sometimes can get crowded with cars.
On the road Strictly cycle in a single file and no overtaking.
Riders, Daddy and mummy bring children ( 12yrs old and above). Pls take note and ensure you, your child is comfortable riding on road.

East: Kallang PCN, F1, Marina Bay Sand, Garden By the Bay South, Marina Barrage, GBTB East, Singapore River, Alexander PCN.
West: Jurong Lake PCN, Ulu Pandan PCN

Meeting location:
East side - Payer Laber MRT (Exit A) to Ghim Mok (18km)
West side - Lake Side MRT Lake Side to Ghim Mok (18km)
Central 1- Bishan MRT to Ghim Mok
Central 2- Caldecott MRT (Circle Line) to Ghim Mok
Ride rating: Medium. 70% PCN, 30% on road and sometimes can get crowded with cars.
Central: 0% PCN, 90% on small roads (including 1 steep but short & 1 gradual but long slope), 10% others (some some soft/wet ground + 2 bridges)
On the road Strictly cycle in a single file and no overtaking.

Central: do prepared to have your wheel/bike dirtied with some mud/sand.

Central: Polo clubs, Bt. Brown Cemetery, private houses.

Please note
Part of the route is on road and we have not try this in a big group, for safety, please bear with the occasional road crossing and pavement riding, bike carrying etc. Give way to pedestrian when we are on pavement. Maintain a safe buffer distance from the one in front. Target to have makan starts at 11am.

Ride Terms and conditions
1) Be punctual. We wait for slow riders, not late-comers.
2) Ride will be canceled if heavy rain.
3) Bring your own spare tube or cab fare.
4) Wear a helmet / Proper covered shoes for your own safety
5) Those joining the ride, please comply to ALL Lead riders, Safety and sweeps
6 ) Do consider wearing a helmet / Proper covered shoes for your own safety.
7 ) Those joining the ride, please comply to ALL LTA rules on cycling on public road during the ride.
8 ) Strictly cycle in a single file on public roads unless overtaking.
9 ) We reserve the rights to refuse any participation from any cyclist(s) at any point of time.
10 ) To instill and promote safety in cycling, we will not hesitate to "STRONGLY ADVISE" rider(s) who compromises safety on himself and/or the whole group during the ride.
11 ) We are just an informal group of cyclists, therefore none of us is liable or responsible for any accident or mishap that occurs to you during any of the rides we organise.

According to the event message, the west end meeting point is LakeSide MRT. According to the mapometer link in the same message, it starts (ends) at Boon Lay Place near BLK 209. Can I confirm the former is the correct one?

We will start at Lakeside MRT station ( roll off at 8am ) and end at Lakeside MRT station at about 12.30pm
