19th June 2011 Northern Ride

Wanna join me for a northern ride? Meet at 730am at Khatib MRT. Route as follows:
- khatib mrt to Bottle Tree Park (provided park is open at that hour)
- the newly enhanced Lower Seletar Reservoir Park with kids-friendly fountains & a very beautiful jetty
- mandai pcn to zoo (lotsa fast food there, but a little expensive if you don't mind)
- zoo to ulu sembawang pcn
- pass by sports school
- stop at coffeeshop for makan
- new woodlands waterfront
- sembawang park
- back to khatib mrt (with option to fallout at Yishun MRT)

1 ) This ride is open to all.
2 ) Be punctual. We wait for slow riders, not late-comers.
3 ) Ride will be canceled if heavy rain.
4 ) As rides are at night, its COMPULSORY to have lights, blinkers or light reflectors on your bike.
5 ) Bring your own spare tube or cab fare.
6 ) Wear a helmet / Proper covered shoes for your own safety.
7 ) Those joining the ride, pls comply to ALL LTA rules on cycling on public road during the ride.
8 ) Strictly cycle in a single file on public roads unless overtaking.
9 ) We reserve the rights to refuse any participation from any cyclist(s) at any point of time.
10 ) To instill and promote safety in cycling, we will not hesitate to "STRONGLY ADVISE" rider(s) who compromises safety on himself and/or the whole group during the ride.
11 ) We are just an informal group of cyclists, therefore none of us is liable or responsible for any accident or mishap that occurs to you during any of the rides we organise.
12 ) Always cycle with safety in mind at all times.
13 ) By joining the ride, means you have read the Terms and Conditions with full understanding

It's q a beautiful area to ride in, esp for first-timers. The Mandai slopes are a little challenging but keep on pushing!

Hello newbie here! Been looking for a group ride near my area and I'm excited to join this ride

I'm only lacking of front lights(thinking of Cateye or Blackburn Flea), any recommendations?

Cateye is good! (suit your picture too lol!) but you don't really need a frontlight for this morning ride.. unless you are setting out before the sun rises!

Welcome! I second what Vince said. For the Sunday rides, you don't really need lights unless it starts raining really hard and visibility is poor. But in any case, both the lights you mentioned are quite good. It all boils down to personal preference. Personally, I choose LED lights that are weather proof. I have a number of blinkers (so cars in front can see me incoming) and illuminating lights (so I can see the road) and other random lights (just to increase my bikes' visibility). Then I just pick and choose depending on the need and the kind of ride I will have. Size may also be a factor you need to consider, especially if you're planning to be one of those with a gazillion gadgets and doodads on their handlebars.

I put down as "maybe baby" first cos I normally play tennis on Sunday morning, will need to arrange with my tennis kakis first.

Hello everyone! My first post here
My Hubby and I are both new to cycling. Just bought our super entry level Rahleigh foldie last Saturday and had been out 4 nights cycling. So far, it's been really fun and we love it!

We would love to join this outing to learn some road manners and make new friends.

But we are really really slow... Just to give u an idea, it took us 50mins to finish marymount > Bishan junction 8 >Bishan park 1 > AMK ave 1 > upper Thomson back at marymount.

Is it ok for us to join? If our speed is too slow do say and we can always join when we are more ready and faster

New here too, can i join the ride as well since its not too far away from my home

a little suggestion : may want to have a detour to the one and only hot spring in singapore since we are in the area...
