No problem Yes! So many folks... the PCN is going to be crowded! And I think Treknology's folks will faint as well. Me looking forward to the ride, never tried that route before.

I applaud you for adding in Ghim Moh hawker centre. You are considerate to the budget conscious & yet can jiak yummy food. Also applaud you being considerate in supporting the livelihood of our nation's old hawkers which is a dying trade.

NUS Uni town is open. Why not bring them cycle the small loop there(anti-clockwise better) & explore? Almost nil traffic on Sun morning. A small field inside with shelter & toilet can be another resting place.

New pedestrian bridge(near end of PCN) linking the tall new flats to ghim moh hawker centre is open too. U can use this new bridge as shortcut to both hawker centre & Uni Town route.

PCN--->Ride across new bridge--->Ghim Moh Hawker Ctr
PCN--->Ghim Moh Link--->Dover Ave--->Dover Rd--->NUS Uni Town


Is better that you bring them explore Uni Town instead of Trek in the given time. Why?

-Look & listen to who are staying at Uni Town with our tax dollars. Feel the ground.
-Why bring people to Trek & get 'chopped' as others have mentioned in the thread?

I went to their holland grove branch before & find other accessories that can be bought at lower price at other shops. You are considerate to the budget conscious riders & compassionate to the aging hawkers with Ghim Moh hawker ctr. Is it wise & compassionate of you to bring riders to Trek & get chopped?

If still go ahead to Trek, who buy overpriced stuff & show other riders they are foolish with their $$$ by getting chopped?

Why support their overpriced business yet hiring pinoy staff(encounter at kilang barat main) who remit S$ back? Shouldn't we support our LBS with reasonable prices with local staff to keep money circulating in S'pore so our fellow countrymen have better life?

Hence isn't it better by bringing others explore the new Uni Town & get a ground feel there instead of a trip to Trek? Nearer to explore new Buona Vista Circleline mrt too.

frontier, you don't have to buy anything at treknology if you don't want to. you don't even have to go to the shop. as steve mentions at the start of the post... "Feel free to break off anywhere along the route if you find it more convenient for you or need to rush off." as a group, we can always decide if we wanna change a route or add a stop for a ride, but you got to note that the ride leaders make an effort to scout routes and plan these things, so have a little respect man.

Frontier, may I know ur actual name? Come with an open mind and experience lovcecyclingsg. No I dont think it is for every one. We dont claim to be the fastest or best in cycling. What we bring to the table is team spirit, fun, good food. Every one here is doing this out off free will and not paid to do this. I ask that u respect that and the effort it takes to organise a ride. You are entitled to ur opinions but u are not going to spoil the good vibes we have going.

I end with this. U like to organise a ride? Pls post on the forum. Pls dun hide behind ur computer and spout all the worldly knowledge. Meet us and tell me in my face I am doing it all wrong. Dun just complain. Do something. Organise a ride. I will have more respect for u.

As for Frontier, thanks for some helpful advice, such as the shortcuts that you mentioned and checking out NUS uni town. Will keep this in mind for future rides.

Going there may not have to buy things to. Its just part of the route. Apart from these rides, we are also brought to other LBS in which their stuffs are also expensive that others. How come you never come in and bark?

Yes i know it takes effort to organise rides. I propose to tylsteve shortcuts & shortcuts for those to MBS demo ride event from clementi. I understand my style is hard to handle for many. People have spoken in polite way about the container trucks busy & i suspect you reroute to pandan reservoir loop for safety reasons after my mention of optimus primes.

I spurned Audrey on about a waste to give up Kukup ride. Her daughters worries about potholes & traffic in johor is not entirely true now as we have worse off potholes in our own S'pore. Why then would i bother to show Audrey those pictures of the deformed road surface?

Please don't misunderstand me as complaining. Polite style may not be really polite(no offense to those who mention container trucks) & my hard to stomach style may not be really bad.

I understand you are very polite person & thus my style may appear to you like fire & water.

My emailing of those deformed pics to LTA is complaining(from your polite style)? Must write to them in polite style like you? How come so many countless drivers drive pass that stretch for dunno how many days & nobody notify LTA until i do? Those drivers are so polite.....(sarcasm) LTA thanked me for notifying them and have already fixed the 'Mt Kinabalu range' & the lone outcrop.

If accident happen on those deformed road surfaces will the victim/s thank the polite masses or the unknown hard-to-stomach me?

Yes you are right Steve is not forcing peoople to Trek. What i propose is a better use of the Trek time to explore Uni town loop since is nearby. After looking at the prices at Trek i agree with the guys at the overpriced trek thread. As a few have not been to trek they might not be aware of the overpriced. I'm not in favor of people wasting their money on overpriced stuff when some of those items are cheaper elsewhere.

I have not been to other bikeshops like MBS so i have no idea if overpriced. If i know is sell overpriced & yet hire many foreign staff i would have bark as u said.

Not boycott as is hard to do in S'pore but if possible i prefer to patronise local hawkers & small businesses with more local staff more.

Yes there's nothing wrong with foreign staff remitting $ back. My point is that is better to support local business with more local staff than overpriced items business yet hiring more foreign staff. At least our money stays longer in the local economy & benefits our countrymen more.

I think you did not get what Diane meant. the purpose to go to Treknology is mainly just to see-see-look-look, not necessary must anyone buy anything. Because not everyone knows of that place, even me, who stays so nearby in Commonwealth. And like our boss has said, feel free to organise any ride if you feel fit to. Just my 2 cents.

I believe who ever organised this ride had chosen "Trek" out of convenience rather than "Interest".One should not "attacked" a shop in what ever way in such thread as this group is just interested in having fun without the need to get into the "politics" of bicycle shop.This is not a question of "politeness" ,its a matter of principles not to "talk bad" about any shop. That should be the spirit of this forum.
