12th Nov 2011- Northern Explorer park - Yishun Pond launch

We are running a cycling event on 12 Nov 2011. Do join in the fun. The details are as follow:
Northern Explorer Cycle 2011 (Yishun Pond Launch)

What: A 25 km ride to commemorate the launch of Yishun Pond.
When: 12 November 2011 (SAT), 8 am
Start point : Sembawang Park

Cycling route:
Start at Sembawang Park, follow the blue route until you reach Yishun Pond where you can witness and
participate in the launch of the new park, Yishun Pond.
Thereafter, cyclists for the 25km route will carry on on the orange route to complete the rest of the Northern
Explorer Loop.Alternatively, cyclists can opt to complete the shorter distance (approximately 12 km) by cycling directly back
to Sembawang Park.
New features include a promenade, comprising a child-friendly play pond, accompanied by flower and nature
trails, wetlands and a native forest of indigenous trees to attract wildlife and encourage biodiversity. This park
will also serve as a platform for community bonding opportunities.
The launch is celebrated by a series of educational, ‘green’ and eco-friendly initiatives, including a ‘farmers’
market’, pony rides and brisk-walking.


Admin details :
1) Guides with FA kits will be provided for both cycling routes.
2) Secured bicycle-parking bay (highlighted yellow) will be provided during the stop at Yishun Pond.
Please register with Darric Tan (email: tan_wee_ching@nparks.gov.sg) by 8th Nov so that we can plan and
deploy the necessary resources.
Carnival brief:
An event proudly organised by Khoo Teck Puat Hospital, HDB, PUB and NParks, this is to celebrate Yishun
Pond’s transformation into a health-promoting, inter-generational garden with ecological-friendly features.
