13th Jan 2013 - LCSG Bike Servicing Workshop @ Punggol -Filled and CLOSED

Hi team, we are conducting a bicycle servicing workshop at Punggol on the 13th Jan. This is only possible because of the kind efforts of George Lim, Steve Tan, Alvin Wong, Khairul, Keng Yong, Vince Li, Uncle KC and Steven Tang. Pls do treat them a nice makan after the session and thank them personally.

Here are the details
What it is - Bicycle servicing workshop to help educate and equip riders with appropiate knowledge and skill needed to maintain a bicycle. This will be done with lots of hands on training rather than talk. Because by doing, you learn better. And yes, u will get ur hands dirty.

Organisers - George Lim and Taiwoon
Location: Punggol blk 272 multi purpose hall (for the folks who dun know the place well, I will be at Punggol MRT to lead u there. 0730. Pls dont be late)
Date: 13th Jan 2013
Time: 8-10.30 am
Makan: There is a kopi tiam very near the blk, after the workshop we will go there for makan. Pls treat the instructors makan and kopi ok?
Number of participant: 40px. This is what we can manage and pls kindly put ur name, contact and email so that it is easier to track. Thanks.

What you will learn (demonstration)
Pre ride check - what to do before u start a ride.
Check - Front and rear brakes
Check- Correct tyre pressure, visual check so that your chance of a puncture is less
Check - Have you remember to bring tube patch kit and tube in a pouch-lights (got battery? )-gloves and helmet, ID?

Hand on with instructors helping u out.

1) Tyre - how to access if it is worn out. Check correct tyre pressure.

1.1) Inner tube change procedure .This is a hands-on workshop, expect to get ur hands dirty. You will be doing it with the help of the instructors

1.2) Check on the brakes. If it is worn(how to see), how to adjust so that the brakes are in order and reduce sweaking

1.3) Correct seat height

1.4) Clean chain and cassette. You will need rags and degreaser(pls bring ur own)

1.5) Learn to adjust the shifters and rear D. (if we have time)

Remarks
1) Riders to bring extra inner tube(check ur wheel size- information on the tyre sidewall). Your bicycle of course...
2) Adjusterable spanners (if ur bike have no quick release)
3) Tyre levers
4) Allen keys
5) Multi tool kit
6) Degreaser, Chain Lube
7) rags, spare cloth ( u will get ur hands dirty)
8 ) hand pump
9) old newpapers to spread on the floor so that we don't mess up the area.
